Longley Group shortlisted for British Precast Awards
Longley Concrete, part of the Longley Group, was awarded two shortlisted certificates at the recent British Precast Awards. The first was the ‘Sustainability Award’ for increased harvesting and better use of rainwater and the second was the ‘Health and Safety Award’ for the pedestrian walkway at the Longley head office manufacturing plant in Dewsbury.
For the sustainability award, the business has an underground water tank which collects rainwater with a capacity to collect 300,000 litres, which is then used in the making of the precast concrete products.
The walkway at the head office was installed as a health and safety measure and ensures that pedestrians and contractors our site are separated from the mobile plant used in the loading and offloading of vehicles.
Vincent Ross, Works Director commented, “We are pleased to be shortlisted for the British Precast awards which recognise our commitment to health and safety and the environment. We strive to be environmentally friendly and efficient in the production and distribution of our precast concrete products. For example, we recently opened a Southern manufacturing facility that has enabled us to significantly reduce CO2 emissions from transporting beams across the country.”
