Longley Concrete set to have best financial year to date

Longley Concrete, the West-Yorkshire, London and Ireland-based precast concrete manufacturer is on track to achieve its highest annual turnover on record. Combined results for the months of April and May 2019 have superseded previous years’ results for the same time period, and the order book looks strong for the next two months before the company’s year-end in July.

The business has grown year on year since 2016, responding to an increase in demand for its precast concrete flooring products. Longley’s manufacturing plant in Ireland, which specialises in bespoke precast concrete staircases, lift shafts and stadia, performed well in April and May, with sales reaching their highest levels ever for the 2-month period.

The wider construction sector has had mixed economic forecasts with Barbour ABI reporting that contracts awarded in April 2019 fell by 2.1% when compared to March 2019. However the NHBC reported earlier this year that the number of new home registrations had increased, particularly within the affordable housing sector.

Michael Longley, MD commented “We’re delighted that the business is performing so well in what has been a difficult year for political stability, which inevitably has a knock-on effect for the commercial sector. As a business we’ve kept our rates competitive and our delivery timescales short. We’ve invested in our manufacturing plants, equipment and in personnel to enable the business to grow steadily and in line with demand. We’ll continue to strive to achieve the best year yet for our 72-year old business.”

Longley Concrete supply precast concrete flooring including traditional Beam and Block as well as Insulated Flooring. Longley’s Insulated Flooring range uses polystyrene eps panels in place of concrete blocks and comes with or without a top layer of insulation to provide energy efficient ground floors. For upper floors Longley’s provide Hollowcore flooring, which can be used in apartment blocks and commercial high rises. The business also manufacture bespoke precast concrete lift shafts, staircase and stadia seating from its Ireland plant.
