Longley Concrete report strong Autumn revenues

Longley Concrete has reported a strong start to their new financial year with revenues at record levels. The period August to October saw the highest ever Q1 turnover for the business along with the highest figure for an individual month.

Remarkably, all of the company’s core product – floor beams, hollowcore, stairs and lift shafts each beat their previous quarterly high reflecting the buoyancy of the construction sector and, in particular, housing.

Commenting on the news, MD Michael Longley said:

“We are pleased to see the company continuing to go from strength to strength. The start we have made to our financial year bodes well for the year ahead. Everything that we do is centred on ensuring that our customers receive excellent service, high-quality products and quick delivery. The business has performed well over the last few years and this has allowed us to invest in new staff and to plan for product developments in the future.”

Longley Concrete’s figures reflect wider trends in the construction sector. The NHBC confirmed in their quarter 3 report 2018 (available here) that between July and September of this year 43,578 properties were registered throughout the UK, which represents a huge increase of 15% compared to the same duration in 2017.

Additionally, the latest figures from the ONS indicate that the construction sector in the UK expanded by 2.9% between the three months to August 2018 and the previous three months. This followed growth of 3.3% in the three months to July 2018. These figures provide further evidence that the construction industry continues to bounce back from its poor performance in the first quarter of the year.
