The Beamshield Plus system is designed to form an unbroken wall-to-wall insulation layer. The sequence is begun with a Starter unit that can be supplied pre cut or cut from a full or half unit on site (this should not exceed 300mm). Following in the direction of the toe successive units can be installed and cut to length at the end of each run. The minimum length of unit at the end of each run depends upon the thickness of the unit. (See Springvale Installation Manual). Holes can be cut to accommodate services as required and any gaps filled with suitable expanding polyurethane foam.

The sequence should continue using the appropriate unit for the beam combination as detailed on the beam layout instructions provided by Longley. Double and triple beam units should be utilised where necessary to avoid additional pinning of insulation pads beneath beams. The final unit is a cut end unit, which can be pre supplied or cut from a full, or half unit on site. (This should not exceed 300mm).

Care should be taken not to walk directly on the units and timber boards should be used where access is required.

Perimeter strip should be placed around all exposed edges prior to pouring the screed. Gas or dpm membranes should be placed directly above the completed Beamshield Plus installation.

Screeds/Toppings for the Beamshield Plus System

Extensive testing has been carried out on the composite action of the Beamshield Plus system incorporating steel reinforced concrete and also fibre reinforced concrete screeds. The finished screed can be flexible to accommodate a wide variety of floor loadings to suit the application.

NOTE: Micro-polymer fibre structural concrete topping in not accepted on NHBC sites.

Site Work

Handling and Storage

Packs of Beamshield Plus are delivered to site wrapped in polythene. Store panels in original packaging, under cover and protected from direct sunlight.

Keep boards above ground level and out of contact with solvents and materials containing volatile organic compounds such as coal tar, pitch or creosote. Do not 
expose to naked flame or other ignition sources during storage or installation.

Services

Do not use Beamshield Plus in direct contact with PVC – sheathed electrical cables, hot water or pipes. Electrical cables should be enclosed in suitable conduit.
