New Lift Shaft and Staircase Moulds at Ireland Factory
Longley Concrete is continuing to invest in their Northern Ireland Factory, with the addition of new lift shaft and staircase moulds. The expansion of production capability at the plant in Castledawson, Londonderry, will help to meet the recent rise in demand for these products and enable Longley Concrete to increase its annual output by 25%.
Longley Concrete’s lift shafts are designed to suit individual requirements, up to six storeys high. Construction takes place off site to minimise disruption to build programmes, with the onsite installation being a quick and simple process with fewer mechanical issues.
Their precast concrete stair units and landings are designed and installed to each project’s exact requirements and are used in a range of applications including car parks, offices, schools, care homes, hospitals and retail space. Precast concrete stairs offer significant benefits during the construction phase of a project as they provide rapid installation and early safe access to subsequent floors for trades and materials.
Managing Director, Michael Longley, has recognised the continuing success of the site stating: “Our Ireland plant celebrates six years of production this year and we are pleased to be able to expand the site and increase our capacity there. The factory primarily manufactures lift shafts and staircases for Longley Concrete, which are then transported to sites across the UK and Ireland. The additional space will enable us to add further staircase moulds at a later date.”
Longley Concrete is a family run, privately owned business which has been in operation for 70 years. As well as precast concrete lift shafts and staircases the company also produce Hollowcore floors, Beam and Block Floors and Insulated flooring.
